“Living in Moments of Racial Injustice: A Time for Reflection and Action” The purpose of this talk is to bring awareness to the national climate of racial injustice and share strategies to address racism and other forms of oppression. Participants will learn how to be an ally during these times of social unrest so we can work toward greater equity and inclusion as a community. Our guest speaker Dr. David E. Jones is the Chief Diversity Officer and Director of Talent Management at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey, where he leads an institutional diversity agenda to create an inclusive campus community for faculty, students and staff. Regularly invited by organizations to serve as a diversity consultant, strategist, speaker and trainer, Dr. Jones has served on the teaching faculty for the Equity Institute at the University of Southern California Race and Equity Center since 2018. Concurrent to his professional work, David remains actively engaged in his community. He currently provides township leadership for West Orange, New Jersey where he serves as a Commissioner for the West Orange Human Relations Commission and a member of the West Orange School District Diversity, Equity and Access Committee. Additionally, David previously served as Membership Chair for the Parent Teacher Association executive board at his children’s school and currently holds the position of Chairperson for the Diversity Council on the Parent Teacher Association executive board.
